Media personality Bridget Otoo has sharply criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s recent campaign proposal to improve smartphone accessibility in Ghana.
During a campaign event in the Savannah Region, Bawumia promised to make smartphones available on a credit system, allowing Ghanaians to pay as little as one or two cedis per month.
However, Bridget Otoo dismissed the plan as unrealistic and condescending.
In a tweet on July 23, 2024, she pointed out the impracticality of the proposal, noting that at such low monthly payments, it would take an excessively long time to repay the total amount.
She argued that this approach undermines the intelligence of voters, calling it both disrespectful and a sign of desperation.
“4500 cedis means it would take 37 years to finish paying. Does it make sense to him?
“This is not even desperation but just disrespectful to think your voters are stupid,” Bridget Otoo stated.
