New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto has admitted that even though former President John Dramani Mahama is youthful in age compared to him, he can easily beat him.
He disclosed on Accra-based Peace FM that Mr. Mahama does not match up to him when it comes to physical strength and challenged him to a tennis contest to vindicate himself.
“He should dare me to a tennis match and we will see who is stronger than the other”, he revealed.
According to him, claims that he is old and would not be able to effectively govern the country if he wins the primaries of the NPP and subsequently becomes President lacks logic.
The former Agriculture Minister argues that Mahama who became President in his 50s, brought about power crises leading to collapse in several businesses.
“Mahama become President in his 50s and birthed Dumsor leading to the collapse of several businesses. If he thinks he is stronger than me then I challenge him to a game of tennis”, he reiterated.
Arguing on why age does not count in one becoming President he said “. President Biden is 81, he is going for a second term. Ouattara is coming off at the age of 80 and Akufo-Addo will be 79 next week and you see the way he works? He works 24-hours…today you hear he is here, the next time he is Dakar and another time he is in Qatar”
