Real Madrid issued an official statement to deny that they are going to ban Atletico Madrid fans from the Copa del Rey match at the Santiago Bernabeu. Likewise, the ‘Merengues’ explained that they grant the same number of tickets that they receive when their team visit the Civitas Metropolitano and encourage not to believe “absolutely false information”.
Real Madrid denied in a statement that rival fans will be denied access to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium and defended that they have granted their Copa del Rey quarter-final opponents Atletico Madrid the same number of tickets they received for the second-leg clash at the Civitas Metropolitano stadium, 334.
“Real Madrid have never refused entry to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium to fans wearing away team jerseys. This has always been the case, as we have seen in every match held in our stadium, and this will continue to be the case”, the club categorically denies in its first point following the reports of the last few hours.
In the same way, Real Madrid explain the reason why they have given 334 tickets to Atletico Madrid for the Copa del Rey derby despite having a higher demand.
“Regarding the number of tickets that Real Madrid has made available to Atletico Madrid for this upcoming match, our club would like to clarify that the number of tickets made available to Atletico Madrid is the same number that Real Madrid receives when visiting the Metropolitano stadium, in accordance with the agreement reached by both clubs within the framework of the excellent relationship that we have with each other,” the club clarified.
Furthermore, they wanted to “place on record that the sale and transfer of tickets at the Santiago Bernabeu has always and at all times been in compliance with the regulations in force for the different competitions”.
The Real Madrid statement closes by wishing that the derby to be played on Thursday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium for a place in the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey “will be a celebration of football that nothing and nobody should tarnish it with completely false information”.
