In a tweet on Thursday, December 15, 2022, Kwaw Kese expressed his frustration that he had been making music for the last 20 years without receiving any royalties.
“20 years of doing music in Ghana and I’ve never gotten paid any royalties,” he tweeted.
In the tweet, Kwaw also harshly criticized the inverted norms of the local scene, where performers must instead pay the media to promote their work.
Following his rants, he got a reply from the camp of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).
The Interim Chairman of GHAMRO, Rex Omar told Ghanaian journalist, Kwame Dadzie that Kwaw is having about 13,000ghc cedis sitting in their black box.
According to him, the ‘Adodam’ rapper has not updated his records despite the calls placed to him on this subject.
Rex elucidated that Kwaw Kese will be paid if he gives them his details.
And in the studies of Accra FM, Kwa Kese has said that he has indeed received his 13,000ghc cheque from the camp of GHARO and he’s yet to cash out.
