There’ll be chaos should teachers be forced to accept GES Boss – Prof Oduro predicts

Former Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC ), Professor George Kwaku Toku Oduro has predicted doom in the pre-tertiary teaching fraternity should teachers on strike be forced to accept the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah.

Speaking on GBC Radio Central in Cape Coast, the educationist said if the National Labour Commission succeed in forcing the teacher unions to call off their strike but allow Dr. Eric Nkansah to still hold on to his position there might be positive defiance among teachers.

“The National Labour Commission can force the teachers to quit the strike action but there is something known as positive defiance where the teacher unions won’t accept and recognize that appointment and can inform the teachers to ignore anything coming from the Acting DG which would bring chaos in the that sector,” Prof Oduro predicted.

In an interview with Joe Gharbin, Professor Oduro wondered why the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Adutwum who is supposed to know better is the one rather causing such unnecessary tension at that sector with the appointment of a banker as Acting Director General of GES.

“It is very surprising that Dr. Adutwum who is a professional teacher and should understand this has rather been the one causing all these unnecessary tension at the GES with his appointments,” he stated monitored by MyNewsGh.com’s Amansan Krakye

“I was probably the first person to laud the appointment of Dr. Adutwum as substantive Minister following his performance as the Deputy at the Education Ministry but what he’s been doing so far has made me really regret my earlier submission,”
