One fan has gone to extreme lengths to ensure he can enjoy the World Cup with an ice-cold beverage in-hand.
Footage has emerged online showing a Mexico supporter allegedly trying to sneak alcohol into a stadium in Qatar by concealing it in a pair of binoculars.
In a clip posted on Reddit, a fan donning a Mexican home shirt is thoroughly searched by a security guard before heading into the ground to watch their nation’s 0-0 draw with Poland.
Clearly suspicious about something, the security member then examines a pair of binoculars.
Taking a closer look, he unscrews the eye lenses to reveal what appears to be some sort of tube which you can suck liquid out of.
Now, given Qatar’s strict ban on alcohol, you can probably hazard a guess at what was hidden in the container.
Genuine binoculars to watch the game? Probably not.
A novelty flask? You’d say so.
That said, what the flask contained remains a mystery – although some fans on social media took a wild stab in the dark.
One user posted the video on Twitter, saying: “Qatari security confiscates binoculars a fan used to hide an alcoholic drink in.”
According to The Sun, some fans questioned whether the binoculars actually contained hand sanitiser instead.
Either way, the fan-in-question has clearly undertaken substantial measures by purchasing the genius equipment in the first place.
