Kumasi Asante Kotoko has named Burkinabe trainer, Seydou Zerbo, as the club’s new head coach.
The former Stallions coach has signed a one-year deal with an option for a further 12 months.
He succeeds Prosper Nartey Ogum, who departed the club last week after a successful 11 months in command.
The 59-year-old’s previous position was in command of the Burkina Faso squad in the 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon when the team failed to proceed beyond the group stages.
Zerbo’s first challenge will be to guide the Porcupine Warriors past the preliminary round qualifications of the CAF Champions League against Burkina Faso’s Rail Team du Kadiogo, the club he began his coaching career in 2013.
As a reminder, Zerbo’s previous duty was the managing of the Burkina Faso national team at the 2020 CHAN tournament in Cameroon. The Stallions exited in the group stages.
The highly-rated tactician began his coaching career in the 2013-14 season when he was in charge of Rail Club du Kadiogo.
He subsequently coached Bankuy Sports from 2014 to 2016 before going to SONABEL and giants ASFA Yennenga.
Zerbo’s previous team was Union Sportive des Forces Armées before he was granted the local national team post.
