Lawyer Augustine Obour who specializes in Criminal Law has expressed shock in the Ghana Police Service for its failure to investigate the Appiate explosion.

According to him, the investigation into incidents that led to the explosion should never be investigated by politicians but rather the Police.

He made this opinion known when he spoke on Accra-based OKAY FM.

“Everything has been left in the hands of the politicians which is not supposed to be so. It’s the work of the Police. Check the code and you’ll know that it’s the work of the Police and not the politicians.

The Appiate issue, the Police is supposed to set up a committee and arrest people by now. Check the procedure code, it is their work and not the work of a politician. I listened to the Minister and he said the committee he set up was not for the violation of the law or the criminal code so what is the Police doing?

“People are dead, a whole community has been brought down to nothing and the Police decide to sit aloof and not arrest anyone on it. This is the work of the Police. Some people have broken the law and caused the death of some members of a community.”

He indicated that by now, the Police should have arrested politicians who didn’t do their work well and even workers of the organization who were supposed to have ensured safety but slept on their work.

Lawyer Augustine Obour indicated that while the politicians are setting up the community, crime has been committed so the Inspector General of Police should focus on the crime committed and not follow the politicians as they do their work.
