It’s a far cry to the next general elections in 2024. However, aspiring candidates of the 2 biggest political parties are gearing up for the race ahead. For the opposition National Democratic Congress, it will not be much of a battle as to who leads the party in 2024. For the ruling New Patriotic Party, it will be fireworks as about 5 candidates are lacing their boots to contest.
The competition will see Alan Kyerematen come up against Vice President Bawumia, Afriyie Akoto, Boakye Agyarko, Joe Ghartey among others. Speaking on Alhaji and Alhaji, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, the Special Aide to former president John Mahama noted that from the list of those competing, none is a match for John Mahama. She explained that their reputation is there for all to see especially that of Bawumia.
She added that the pedigree of Bawumia is clear especially in the way he has mismanaged the economy and made Ghanaians poor. She pointed out a number of policies that have ended badly and blamed the vice president for it. in assessing the candidates of the NPP she noted that none can stand John Mahama but bringing Bawumia as the flagbearer will be the easiest candidate to beat.
