I received a threatening call from a top-notch security personnel because of my bite – Johnny Hughes

Over the week, government has been committed to investing in media Journalists in the country in an attempt to improve on the capacities of media men and women.

It without doubt how media freedom and progress would impact the development of the country, hence government’s interest in providing training for the prospective Journalists and broadcasters.

According to the Minister of Information who doubles as the Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi constituency, Honourable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, government has taken steps in improving journalism skills to improve on the mandate. Political experts and analysts have showered praises on the government for the initiative, imploring government to consistently focus on providing such trainings.

Earlier today, January 11, 2022, host of TV3 NewDay show, Johnny Hughes waded into reactions concerning the Media Capacity Enhancement Programme. According to Johnny, government has taken a step in the right direction that would benefit the country at large. The verbose journalist however called on government to be circumspect and result oriented.

Speaking further, Johnny Hughes made a tough revelation over how he has been threatened since he started the Johnny’s bite. According to him, he has recieved several threatening calls and messages mostly from unknown contacts, which has put his life in danger. He believes that, such media enhancement programmes and initiatives would promote liberty and freedom for Journalists.

According to Johnny Hughes, he recently received a call from a top notch security personnel cautioning him of his security. He indicated that he first received a call in October and that put fear in him, however he ignored them to focus on his daily bites. He was quick to add that, consistent calls from unkown persons have endangered his life knowing how government has failed to finalise on the Alhmed Suale’s case.

He said, “Since I started the Johnny’s Bite in October, if I tell you the number of people who have called to tell me to be careful you will be amazed. You have no idea. I received a call from a security expert threatening me because of Johnny Bites.”
