The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reportedly directed all MPs and former MPs of the party to refund monies creamed of part of fees paid Polling station Executives of the party for their work during the 2020 elections.
According to reports monitored by WhatsUp News, the directive was given on 17th December 2021 and was part of the recommendations of a committee that had been set up to investigate the cream-off.
According to the report, NPP Polling station executives were allotted Ghc500 by the party for their services during the elections, however, they received lesser amounts, some as little as Ghc200.
As it would turn out, the money which had been channeled through the party’s MPs had been ‘edited’ by the MPs.
According to reports, this engendered unhappiness among the Polling Station Executives leading to complaints being made to the party’s leadership which led to NEC setting up a committee to probe.
The probe confirmed the allegations were true thus the directive to the ‘chobo’ licking MPs and ex-MPs.
