Despite the fact that Thomas Tuchel did not observe Chelsea fans screaming his name during the 3-0 win against Newcastle United, he was impressed by the away support.
The Chelsea manager was most likely too preoccupied with the game to notice the crowd’s singing.
Despite this, the traveling fans sang a song in praise of the Champions League-winning manager.
It isn’t a brand-new song, as most Chelsea supporters would recognize it as a close cousin to the one they had for Frank Lampard.
When asked about his chant, Tuchel told Chelsea TV after the game, “Oh, I didn’t hear it, I’m sorry.
“I was blown away by the turnout here [at St James’ Park].”
“Calming down the [home supporters] throng as we did tonight is also an accomplishment.” It was achieved through talent and focus – congratulations to the players.
“I’m pleased that we were able to score three goals in front of our home crowd in an away match.”
Tuchel isn’t the only Chelsea player to have his own chant yelled by the crowd.
Timo Werner remarked in May that hearing the crowd scream his name, something he had never heard before in Germany, made him very pleased.
