Scores of Ghanaians raised concerns when the President extended the leave period for Honourable Adwoa Safo, the substantive Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection. Many Ghanaians who were left in awe as to why the Dome-Kwabenya legislator has been on leave for too long, have started reading different interpretations into her absence.
Lawyer Adwoa Safo sought absence of leave for personal reasons. But in what more appear rather bizarre to Ghanaians, the law-maker has been making Tic Tok videos while on leave. The leave period which was meant to end on August 30 was extended until further notice by the President. Excerpts of a statement issued by the Presidency reads “In her absence and until further notice, President Akufo-Addo has directed the Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah to act as caretaker Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection”.
Reacting to this, Mr. Kelvin Taylor, the social media activist, condemned the President and the Minister for wasting the taxpayer’s money. According to him, the Member of Parliament is being paid as a Minister and a Member of Parliament for no work done. The seasoned Journalist descended on the minority in Parliament for their negligence of duty that has permitted the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to take the country for granted.
Kelvin Taylor further stressed that the attitude of Ms. Adwoa Safo is tantamount to gross disrespect to the country. The Journalist who said he has the right to criticize the legislator so long as she is occupying a state position, said Lawyer Adwoa Safo should go and enjoy her father’s money if she feels she is too big. “As far as you are a Minister of State, I will not spare you if you waste the state resources, if you feel you are too big, go and enjoy your father’s money”, he said.
