The Champions League qualification stages are over and UEFA have released their latest list of the world’s top 5 leagues.
These rankings are indicative of the coefficient that each league has. UEFA explain how the coefficient works: “The coefficient is calculated by working out an average score: dividing the number of points obtained, by the total number of clubs representing an association in that season’s club competitions.
“The resulting figure is then tallied with the results of the previous four seasons to calculate the coefficient.”
And the latest rankings see a shocking drop for Ligue 1, which is, of course, where Lionel Messi has just moved to play for Paris Saint-Germain. Here are the top 6 rankings:
2) La Liga (Spain)
3) Serie A (Italy)
4) Bundesliga (Germany)
5) Primiera Liga (Portugal)
6) Ligue 1 (France)
