Chief Executive Officer of IMANI Centre for policy and Education Franklin Cudjoe has questioned the rationale behind closing other social gatherings and leaving churches and mosques behind which also contribute to the spread of the virus.
According to a post by Franklin Cudjoe which has sparked controversy on social media, he asked why the government have to close down funerals and weddings leaving the churches and the mosques when he knows clearly that those gathering starts from there.
He added that pastors and the Imams should learn how to hold virtual congregations instead of expecting in person meetings.
As a matter of fact, weddings and funerals and other social gatherings that was banned by the president mostly have their part in the church or mosque, then conclude the process outside.
“Funeral and Weddings banned. But churches and mosques continue to operate. But where are funerals and weddings first held?” He asked
Meanwhile the president has stated that churches and mosques can continue to worship but Covid-19 protocols must be strictly enforced to ensure that the church will not be a source of the virus.
He also closed down pubs, clubs, beaches and others to avoid the spread of the virus
