Dr. Randy Abbey, host of Good morning Ghana political talk show on metro TV has called for the head of the drafter of the President’s coronavirus address update speech.
Discussing the surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few days with Felix Ofosu Kwakye and Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the journalist indicated that whoever inserted in the President’s speech that pubs and night clubs were not operational lied to the man and should be sacked. The President in his earlier address, ordered for the closure of night clubs, cinemas, pubs, beaches and entertainment joints to curb the spread of the virus. A task force was created to lead the charge of arresting persons flouting the laws.
Contrary to the President’s order, the above listed were operating without recourse to social distancing protocols and wearing of mask during the festive season.
I know many pubs who have been operating since the President’s order. I can mention a lot of them who operated without recourse to the safety protocols. The President is old and probably won’t step out in the evening but his handlers are always out there and aware of what I am talking about.
Since the 19th coronavirus update, the President has always said categorically that pubs and beaches have been closed which is far from the truth. Whoever put that lie in the President’s speech should be sacked, he is either not abreast with the situation at hand or setting up the President for public ridicule.
Further, he admonished leadership to put in so much energy and seriousness in the fight against the virus.
