The electoral commission has over the years seen the emergence of great chairperson’s that have Chiefly led the independent enforcer of democracy in Ghana.
From the all hard and no nonsense Afari Gyan who has organized and declared 4 generations of elections in the country to the affable and dutiful Charlotte Osei then to the under pressure Jean Mensa.
It can’t be rejected that Afari Gyan has no classmate among the three EC chairperson’s. He’s a man in his own class and capacity.
During the 2020 delay in declaring the results few Ghanaians showed an idea of missing the former EC boss. They believed he’s no nonsense and a hard but to crack.
Going forward two female chairperson’s have also had their shot as spearhead’s of the commission, with madam Charlotte Osei organizing one and madam Jean Mensa organizing same.
They have by virtue of their position organized, collated and declared results of general elections in the country.
Each on of them [Charlotte Osei] [Jean Mensa] had a chance by constitutional decree declared a presidential candidate as winner.
Madam Charlotte Osei held, collated and declared the 2016 general election which saw Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo declared as president elect with madam Jean Mensa also holding, collated and declared the 2020 general elections respectively.
Both have served in lol capacity to ensure free and fair election was delivered and a smooth transition of government too.
Among these two, who do you prefer as EC boss?
Considering these two EC chairperson’s, who do you think made the electoral process smooth and sound with any hitches or few minors?
Your thoughts and views are warmly welcomed.
