The coronavirus was confirmed in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late November 2019. Cases have since been confirmed in almost all countries across the globe.

With thirty-six African countries currently with recorded cases, governments continue to roll out increasingly robust measures to halt the spread and to contain the pandemic which has claimed a number of lives.

Here in Ghana, there is a partial lockdown by order of the President, Akufo-Addo, limiting the movement of non-essential service providers.

While the President and other government officials continue to make passionate appeal to the citizenry to observe this containment measure, some few recalcitrant individuals won’t badge.

Unfortunately, the army confirmed that a Soldier has shot a man in Ashaiman, a suburb of Accra on Sunday, April 5, whiles there were on COVID-19 lockdown enforcement duties.

Eye-witness narrating the incident detailed that there was a heated argument between the military officer and the deceased after the latter refused to give certain answers on why he’s moving about ‘aimlessly‘ at that prohibited hour.

The deceased even tried collecting the soldier‘s gun in an aggressive manner which resulted in the discharge of bullets to hit his chest where he passed on few minutes on their way to the hospital, the witness said.
