Yvonne Nelson has raised an alarm that Ghana doesn’t seem to be ready to fight coronavirus if it breaks out in the country.
The severe lung disease, with no approved cure yet, which started in China and infected 78,927 people in the Asian country as of 28 February, with 2,790 of them dying, has spread to more than 50 countries, including the UK, Italy, America and now, Nigeria.
With the first case reported in Lagos on 28th February, Ghanaians have been more concerned on how to avoid contracting the virus now named Covid-19. In this pursuit, Yvonne Nelson says that she tried searching for a face mask but a top pharmacy in Accra only offered her a construction mask.
According to the ace actress, her experience of not being able to find the appropriate face mask is a sign that Ghana is not prepared to fight and contain the virus if it breaks out in the country. The mother of one then took social media to register her displeasure.
“Ghana!!! What a joke! I’ve checked more than 20 pharmacies today for face masks and you won’t believe one top pharmacy on the East Legon main road brought out a construction mask! Charley we aren’t ready as a country at all,” She tweeted.
However, Yvonne’s post attracted over 400 retweets which came with 300 plus replies from twitters across Africa but most from Ghana. Read what some of them have to say below and tell us what you think too. Do you agree with Yvonne Nelson?

I also did same In Koforidua about a month ago. Not a single pharmacy had a single face mask. If our ‘big’ cities don’t have face masks then I wonder what will happen in the villages #LordHaveMercy #Coronavirus #COVID19

Forget face masks, once we’ve been able to survive Nana Ado and his npp, Coronavirus can’t do no worse

Always using your platform to down grade the country. You haven’t tweeted anything better about the country since I saw you on Twitter. Ghana celebs grow up

What’s there better to tweet about the country ? That our leaders have supplied us with more ambulances in the 21st century or that hundreds of excavators that were ceased by the government can’t be found or even our leaders are selfish ?

There’s a shortage of face mask in the system, they shipped most of it back to China, even if you should get it, a pack of 50 is now between 80 & 100ghc.
