Information reaching Foxvibes.com states that the English Premier League has been suspended until the weekend of April 4th in light of developments due to the spread of COVID-19 in Europe.
The Premier League convened an emergency meeting on Friday, where the decision was arrived at that all upcoming matches will be postponed due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
A number of Premier League teams have gone into self-isolation in recent days after either players or members of the staff showed signs and symptoms of the COVID-19 virus.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive on Thursday, forcing the two teams to go into self-quarantine in accordance with health guidelines.
The English FA confirmed a few minutes ago that all games, including the Premier League, FA Cup, Academy and Women’s Super League fixtures have been postponed until April 4.
Everton club have also confirmed that they will be self-quarantining themselves after a member of the first-team showed signs of the deadly coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the French Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 have been suspended indefinitely.
All of next week’s UEFA matches have also been postponed due to the spread of COVID-19. According to the governing body, this decision was arrived at as a result of related decisions made by different governments as they moved to prevent further spread of the virus.
The outbreak of the coronavirus has killed over 4,000 people worldwide.
