The two foreign nationals who were suspected to be carrying the coronavirus in Ghana have been tested and declared negative.
The Chinese and Argentine reported to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, underwent a test at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR).
The results of the test were negative and the duo has been declared not infected with the deadly coronavirus.
According to Dr William Baah, the Greater Accra Divisional Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association said the two patients “all developed some symptoms that fit the case definition [but] it doesn’t mean they have the disease”.
About 427 people have died so far with more than 20,000 confirmed cases around the world.
Coronaviruses are spread through air droplets expelled when an infected individual coughs or sneezes within a range of about 3 feet.
The Greater Accra Regional and the Tema General Hospitals have been designated by Ghana as coronavirus management and treatment centres.
