Defunct gold dealership firm Menzgold has said it has released details of 200 clients it claims to have paid.

But the list has been given to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Communication Director of Menzgold, Nii Armah Amarteifio has said.

The claim of refunds to investors has been greeted with skepticism.

Hundreds of the disgruntled customers stormed the Trassaco home of the CEO of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah (NAM1) to demand their monies.

They say they are yet to meet any client who has testified to receiving their monies, some of which have been locked up since 2018.

Vice-Chairman of the Coalition of Menzgold Customers, Isaac Nyarko, refuted the claims of December 27, 2019, payment by Menzgold and demanded a list of the supposed paid individuals.

Addressing the issue, Mr. Amarteifio, insisted that: “We cannot put out names and account details of people without their permission and that is why the list is not out there in public”.

However, he told Accra-based Joy FM on Thursday that: “We have submitted the list to the CID”.

“They have also called us to provide the list to them because we made a pronouncement on radio that we have paid 200 and they asked and we have done that,” he explained.

But for the incident at the home of NAM1, the next payments earmarked for some 150 clients would have taken place.

Communication Director of Menzgold, Nii Armah Amarteifio, also announced that the next batch of 150 to be paid their cash, has been compiled.

Mr. Amarteifio said that the company was supposed to continue the payment on Friday, January 3, 2020, but experienced delays in compiling the list which was ready on Tuesday.

“So, yesterday, was when they finished with, I think 150 or so list to go and then the issue happened,” he remarked.

He was quick to add that the picketing at the house will not derail the plan of payments which will span over a period of three years.

He said the current staff strength of Menzgold is less, “we are not more than five people” helping with a third party making the payments on their behalf.
