The immediate past Director-General of the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah, has expressed shock and surprise at the support she has received from the media since the news of her transfer from the CID.

COP Addo-Danquah has suffered several criticisms from the media following the kidnapping of the three Tarkoradi girls last year.

But speaking to the media at an event in Accra, the former CID boss said she is amazed at the comments and messages from people, particularly the media.

“From the day that the transfer came till today, I am amazed at the acceptance that I had from the Ghana Police Service and even the media that I thought didn’t like me. I’m amazed at the type of comments and messages that I am receiving from them,” COP Addo-Danquah said.

According to her, she has received many congratulatory calls and text messages after the transfer news broke.

COP Addo-Danquah, who spent barely 3 years at the CID, was reassigned to the Police Welfare Department as the Director-General in a recent major reshuffle at the top hierarchy of the Ghana Police administration.

She observed that the positive comments she received from family, colleagues, and media personalities show that she has touched many hearts in the line of her duty.

“I thought I was doing my job. And even doing my job in the ordinary course of life, I’ve touched so many people, especially in the Police Service.

“One thing that I did was that, with the support of the NLA (National Lottery Authority), the CID brought elevator that made it possible for disabled people; those who were not able to climb to the top of the CID to access our services,” she said.

Speaking on her new position, the former CID boss said though her new role comes with huge responsibilities, she will not disappoint the Police administration.

“I don’t have the luxury to disappoint anybody at all because they expect so much from me and I’m not going to disappoint,” she said.
