Members of the Technical Universities Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) wants the National Labour Commission(NLC) to go to court and enforce its ruling on 28th October, 2019 else its strike action continues unabated.
The Chairman of the Greater Accra branch of TUTAG, Dr Ibrahim Zubairu, told GHOne TV in an interview that the ball is in their[NLC] court to compel government through the courts to abide by its ruling.
Government sought the intervention of the National Labour Commission (NLC) last year after failing to reach any consensus with the leadership of TUTAG following series of meetings.

The National Labour Commission invited both parties to a hearing on 28th October 2019 and gave its ruling.
But according to Dr. Zubairu, the NCTE has consciously planned to thwart the efforts and implementation of the NLC ruling after suspending its earlier strike late last year.
Dr Ibrahim Zubairu maintained that it has already served notice to the NLC informing of its decision to strike, as required by the labour law, and hence nobody can fault congress for its actions now.
“The Labour Law requires that we notify them within seven days, if nothing happens, before we go. I submitted the Letter to Labour Commission and they’ve not responded yet, and we don’t have to wait for them to respond. Ours is to notify them, that is what the law says.”
“…So students should go home; they should go and study. We’ve finished teaching them. The next time we call them they would have to come and write the exams, they have to go and prepare and come,” he said.
TUTAG on Monday, January, 06, 2020 declared strike over what they say is the failure of the government to fully migrate them onto the single spine salary structure.
The Association in October last year went on a similar strike over poor conditions of service.
