The case docket of the ten people accused of plotting a coup to destabilise the country and “possibly take over the government,” has been forwarded to the Attorney – General (A-G) for advice.
The police prosecutor handling the case, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mr Sylvester Asare, made this known when the case came up at the Kaneshie District Court on Wednesday [January 8. 2020], reports Graphic Online’s Emmanuel Ebo Hawkson.
With the new development, it means the police have completed their investigations and the trial of the case could begin in earnest, depending on the advice from the A-G.

Ebo Hawkson reported that, when the case was called, ASP Asare, asked the court to adjourn the case as the prosecution was waiting for the A-G’s advice.
The court presided over by Mrs Eleanor Kakra – Banes Botchway acceded to the prosecution’s request and adjourned the case to January 23, 2020.
Suspects
The 10 suspects, including five soldiers, have been charged with offences including conspiracy to commit treason felony, treason felony, abetment to commit treason, conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse and possession of explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse.

They have been accused of plotting to destabilise the country and “possibly take over the government”.
The soldiers are Colonel Samuel Kodzo Gameli, Warrant Officer II Esther Saan Dekuwine, Corporal Seidu Abubakar, Lance Corporal Sylvester Akanpewon and Gershon Akpah, a weapons mechanic at the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
The other accused persons are Dr Frederick YaoMac-Palm, a medical practitioner; Donyo Kafui, alias Ezor, a blacksmith; Bright Alan Debrah, a fleet manager.
Prosecution’s case
Prosecutors have accused the 10 of being part of a group known as Take Action Ghana (TAG), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), which is alleged to have planned to embark on demonstrations against the government and “possibly take over the government”.
